Ron Jacklin producer and founder of the Media FX Group began his multimedia career in 1989 as the head of the Imaging Department at Vision Presentations where he prepared thousands of presentations. Ron was trained in Memphis, Tenn. on a Genigraphics system, and then moved on to become an Autographix solutions provider. The department grew to be one of the largest of its kind in western Canada.
Ron joined Duocom (an MCSi company ) in 1999. MCSi is the world's largest ‘Media Consultant/Systems Integrator and staging company’ with over a billion dollars in sales. They selected Ron to head up the "Creative Services" group. His group developed media for companies throughout North America. These projects included presentations (and other media) for many varied organizations like Sony, NEC, the University of Notre Dame, Unilever, Canada Life, Seattle Public Schools, and many more.
Ron was named (Nov. 2002 – AV Video Multimedia Producer Magazine) as one of the top 100 producers (North America wide).
Ron started Jacklin Creative in 2003 and in 2005 renamed the company to the Media FX Group. His team includes top grads of the British Columbia Institute of Technology (BCIT)’s New Media program -- including Travis Salazar, Danielle Borisoff, John Cheng, Jeff Masigan, and his business partner Zach Shore.
With the Dataton Watchout system, Ron his team have created stunning animations and graphics that span multiple screens and displays. This kind of production put his clients on the map! He combined his existing and established expertise in animation and design to compose spectacular backdrops, animated sequences and bold speaker support for a range of environments including awards ceremonies, product launches, exhibitions and installations. Some of the higher profile events include an 18 projector show for the Canadian Tourism Commission, a 7 projector show for Clarica Insurance, 5 projectors shows for the Conservative Party of Canada (the last 2 election nights & convention), and eLearning websites for the BC Ministry of Education. MFXG has been ask to develop the video for the Ministry of Economic Development through the BC Technical Industries Association.
On the web development side, using Web 2.0 Open Source technologies and in building a new Flash eLearning infrastructure, for the BC Ministry of Education, Ron and his team, use video streaming, and presentation/multimedia design all factor into the development of a eLearning or interactive site. Ron was also the Program Head for New Media and Digital Arts at the British Columbia Institute of Technology in 2004/2005. Ron is currently BCIT’s practicum coordinator and teaches part-time Human Factors for Interface Design, Information Architecture, and Introduction to Media Techniques.
